Elephant's medicine includes strength, royalty, connection to ancient wisdom, removal of obstacles and barriers, confidence, patience, using education opportunities, commitment, gentleness, communicating in relationships, discernment, intelligence, compassion. If this is your animal guide, these virtues are a part of your natural character. By applying them in your life soul evolution is accomplished.

Throughout history elephants have been revered. They are most intelligent creatures, and honoured by many cultures. As well as being the largest land animals, they are also among the longest lived, with life spans of 60+ years. In Buddhist tradition, the Buddha picked the form of a white elephant as one of his many incarnations, thus the rare appearance of a white elephant is still heralded as a manifestation of the gods. The Hindu god Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, has the head of an elephant.

Elephants can teach us that gentleness, commitment, and communication in relationships is very powerful and necessary to keep relationships alive, trusting and loving, whether it be friends, family or partner. Deeply committed to all creatures with whom they have relationships, elephants are tough when protecting others and gentle when nurturing them. The matriarch (the oldest, most experienced female leader of a herd) leads in a way that is both gentle and inclusive. Elephants are able to communicate telepathically. This can teach us how to truly listen to others.

Elephants are so similar, yet so different to our own species. We have so much to learn from them! Elephants have emotions that are comparable to human - love, joy, jealousy, rage.

Just like humans, young elephants are dependent on their mums, until they reach adulthood. The general lifespan of an elephant also closely parallels that of humans. When a baby is born, the entire community gathers around the mother and newborn and rumble with joy. This is equivalent to tears rolling down their faces. Just like human babies, elephants learn about getting along in the physical environment. For instance, elephant calves have to learn the many ways in which their trunks can be used. The newborn elephant is born into a community of love. Calves have more than one mother so to speak, as all are willing, eager teachers, from the matriarch, to her offspring and their young. They want to nurture, protect and help the youngest among them develop. They also teach first time mothers how to develop their own nurturing skills. Loyal and affectionate elephants would risk their lives for the sake of others in a family group. Wild elephants have been known to grieve and even shed tears when a family member has passed away. Elephants have amazing memories and when mistreated they often seek revenge.

Elephants show us that by supporting and loving one another, our own ability to thrive in the physical world is enhanced. We learn from them to pass on the gift of nurturing we received in our early years, be it from our biological family or others who helped us grow into who we are now. We must honour the elders of our community and nurture the young. Like the elephant, we need to help ease the transitions of those who are going into adulthood with gentle love, wisdom, patience and compassion. By having open hearts and minds, we can create strong relationships within the community, therefore building a strong community.

Elephants communicate telepathically with herd members as well as other elephants. As we choose to become closer and more open with those dear to us, our ability to understand them can deepen to a level that transcends speech.

Although elephants weigh A LOT, they walk almost noiselessly, with exceptionally graceful and rhythmic striding. Their hearing, smell, touch and taste is very keen/sensitive. This makes up for their poor eyesight. In relation to their big heads, their eyes are very small and can only turn slightly from side to side. This results in restricted side vision. Those with this power animal feel things deeply and respond to those feelings from a place of inner knowing. Because their vision is limited they tend to look straight ahead and cant always see what going on around them. Learning to shift our focus to view the whole is helpful.

Elephants have just 4 teeth, all molars, 2 toward the front of the mouth and 2 toward the back. When the front ones wear down, they drop out and the 2 at the back come forward. Then 2 new molars grow in the back of the mouth to replace those that have moved forward. The back molars are able to be replaced 6 times throughout their life. When the last set wear out, they can no longer chew and die of starvation. Teeth are very symbolic, and are considered receivers and transmitters of energy linked by connecting paths throughout the astral body.

As the elephant is extremely intelligent, those with this power animal would make excellent researchers and alternative scientists.

Elephant tusks point backwards. They use them as weapons and for digging edible roots. From a spiritual point of view this hints at an ability to uncover the hidden memories and bring them to the fore for evaluation and healing. Let go.

Elephant:
Commitment


To read about the elephant is to have a glimpse into the life of an animal who is so curiously like and yet so unlike our own species.

The average period of dependency of a child upon its mother, the age of adulthood, and the general lifespan of an elephant closely parallel that of a humans. Elephants also have emotions comparable to humans: joy, rage, jealousy, love. For example, when a baby is born, the entire community crowds around the mother and newborn, rumbling with joy, the elephant equivalent of tears rolling down their faces.

Elephant Journey
It’s dark. First see an elephant’s eyes-big, intelligent, and willing to share your burden. As you look into the eyes of your elephant, tell him your problem or what you would like to accomplish. His form comes into view, and you become aware of the night sky, with a full moon and a blanket of stars, and then of the earth. The elephant drops slowly to one knee, and you climb onto his back.

The elephant begins to take you on a walk through nature. Ride the elephant through thickest of bushes, forests, or jungle, aware that no obstacles thwart your passage. You are following your heart’s desire and allowing your intellect to help you find the correct, balanced path. As you sway with the motion of the elephant, chest forward, you feel the elephant’s heart as your own, and your heart merges with his and naturally begins to open.

The terrain grows steeper, and the path more rigorous and narrow. Receive an intellectual awareness of what your problem or situation is and what you can do about it. By the time you’ve reached the top of the mountain, your heart is fully open. You’ve merged with, become one with, the elephant.

Your Journey
From your new vantage point on the peak of the mountain, feel the first ray of sunlight appear and strike your third eye. Allow yourself to experience the full impact and intensity of the sunlight as it penetrates your third eye during the time it takes for the sun to rise.

As the horizon opens out before you, take five deep breaths. Throw your head and trunk back with each inhale through your nose, and blow out the breath from your mouth as you bring your head forward. At the end of the fifth breath, lie on your back. With your final exhale, begin to float and allow whatever will to happen. Allow your vision to carry you into the future. The elephant has cleared your path and shown you the way. Explore. Look beyond your expectations. Stay as long as you are comfortable.

The Elephant Totem

The Elephant Totem indicates strength, luck and wisdom. The Elephant was the Totem animal of the God Shiva, the Destroyer, who seeks to banish illusion and encourage clearer perception. Shiva and his Goddess wife, Radha produced, as one of their offspring, the Elephant headed God Ganesha. If an elephant baby cries the herd will group around it touching it with their trunks to sooth and comfort the upset offspring. They are loving parents and do not shun or ignore the elderly of their herds, in fact they go out of their way to protect both the oldest and youngest of their herds, honoring and respecting the wisdom of age and the hope of youth.

To watch an Elephant in the wild is to truly experience its grace and magnetism. Their majestic presence is a wonder to behold. Leopardo - Leopard

lEOPARDO - LEOPARD

The Leopard is highly regarded by many cultures and tribes. In ancient and modern Egypt the Leopard is seen as a sign of divinity. If a Leopard crossed ones path in ancient Egypt, that person was thought to possess the highest of spiritual and holy qualities and their advice was sought by spiritual and political leaders. The Chinese have long regarded the Leopard as a great and mighty warrior. In Africa the natives believe that they are animal guides for the spirits of the dead, and help them to find their final resting place.

Leopards have impressively strong bodies and necks. They often carry their prey, which are usually very heavy, up into trees so that their food is hidden from scavengers. They are solitary animals and have a defined territory that they fiercely defend from intruders. They hunt at dusk and dawn; they are silent, and stealthy stalkers, and are very fast and agile. Leopards will drink every day, if possible, but can go a month without water without suffering any ill effects. They have excellent homing instincts and can find their territory even if they are taken far away from it.

Another unique characteristic of this animal is their keen sense of sight and hearing. The Leopard possesses vision that is six times that of humans and their hearing is two times that of humans. Their eyesight is among the keenest of all animals on land and is what enables them to hunt at dusk and dawn when the light is not its brightest. This characteristic greatly contributes to the idea that they are indeed imbued with the ability to see what others cannot.

Leopards are beautiful and incredibly strong animals and there are several variations on their coat coloring, depending on the region they live in. The most popular coloring is a light golden shade with deep brown, spots. Leopards that live in the deep rain forests are darker and at times are black with dark rosettes; these Leopards were once thought to be a different species and they were called Black Panthers, however, they are truly Leopards and their spots, or rosettes, can be seen up close at the right angle. Leopards that live in the high mountains are white with black spots and are beautiful and unique to behold. A Leopards coloring helps it to camouflage itself from predators and prey. This characteristic lends itself to their virtue of shape shifting and the ability to fool those who seek to harm them.

Native American and Celtic custom regard Wolf as the way of find the deepest levels of self, of inner knowing and intuition. This is symbolized by the image of the wolf howling at the moon. Native Americans have long regarded wolves as teachers or pathfinders. In astrology, Wolf is represented by the Dog, Sirius, thought by many aboriginal tribes to be the home of the Ancients.

Wolves are probably the most misunderstood of all wild animals. Stories of cold-bloodedness abound, in spite of their friendly, intelligent and social traits. The wolf, once a much feared and hated animal, has lately become much more appreciated. They now stand a better chance of survival, where they haven’t been hunted to extinction, or near extinction, in some countries. In the USA this culling of wolfs, who are a symbol of wildness, was down to the process of taming the wilderness. Especially where farms were trying to be founded. They were seen as the enemy, especially when they ate farm animals! Perhaps nowadays people are becoming more aware that keeping the harmony of nature and its inhabitants intact is necessary as wolf’s are being reintroduced back into the wilderness in the USA. Of course, farmers are protesting profusely. On a deeper level our emotions toward Wolf reflect our muddled feelings of ourselves as humans. Although we consider ourselves ‘civilized’ we are still animals with our own wild spirit. Wolf reminds us of this, often uneasily.

The wolf, is a symbol of the night. This time can seem lonesome and scary to us. But it is also the time when through dreams, we may discover valuable things about ourselves. This is a lonely path. To truly come to understand yourself, you must be alone, undeterred by the beliefs, judgements and views of others. The wolf teaches us to learn about our inner self and to discover our inner power and strength. However, to achieve this, we must take risks and face our deepest fears. Wolf requires sincerity. Though demanding a lot of us, much is given in return; a spirit helper that is always there to help, giving us extraordinary powers of endurance. Learn to hear the voice within yourself, which in silence is as clear as the sound of the wolf howling in the night.

Wolf is also an extremely gregarious animal, enjoying the company of others. Wolves mate for life. The clan has a solid social structure, in which all adults participate in the upbringing of the young. Swan Meaning and Swan Symbolism

Our first symbolic clues from the swan can be taken from observing them in nature. They are waterfowl, closely connected with water, even nesting near the water.

Swan meaning is also linked to Celtic deities with solar associations, like Belanus and Lugh. As solar animals, the swan represents the rising glory of a new day as well as the farewell of an old day with the setting sun. Fittingly, the Celtic goddess Bridgid is also associated with the swan as her grace is expressed with equal elegance in the form of writing (poetry) and song.

Celtic myth also indicates when inhabitants of the Otherworld required passage to the physical land of life you and I experience every day, they would take the shape of the swan. Furthermore lore states they would travel out of the Otherworld in pairs, thus reinforcing the theme of union, bonds and partnership.

In Celtic art, gold and silver chains are often depicted around the swan's neck. I’ve read where this is symbolic of supernatural appearance of divine energy or the descent of gods to earth. I like to think the chains are symbolic of a harmony between cosmic forces; gold representing the sun, and silver symbolic of the moon. Perhaps the Celts recognized the essence of gods within the guise of the swan, and honored that power in the bird.

We see further themes of transformation and deific embodiment in Greek myth wherein Zeus (Jupiter in the Roman pantheon) transformed himself into a swan in an effort to slake his uncontrollable passion for Leda.

Symbolic swan meaning continues the theme of transformation in the tale of the Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson. Mislabeled from birth, the little duckling lives his life with the heroic heart of a swan. Indeed, after growing strong under the nurturing of kind humans, the duckling is set free, and sees its image for the first time in a reflective pool of water to discover he had “transformed” into a lovely swan.

Who doesn’t love this little fairy tale? It reminds us of our inherent glory, power and beauty (as the duckling was always a graceful swan). At the same time, the tale encourages us to have faith and have a persistent heart while pursuing the gifts that are our birthright.

In dreams, the swan asks us to spread our wings and take flight into our waking dreams. She also encourages us to strengthen our relationships, as well as make new, long-lasting bonds with people whom we admire.

White swans in dreams are symbolic of cleansing and purifying ourselves and our lives. Black swans indicate deep mysteries within us that are longing to be set free to express themselves creatively – perhaps as Bridgid would have us do, in poetry or music.

In the Medicine Cards oracle, pulling the Swan card tells you to “accept your ability to know what lies ahead, pay attention to your hunches, gut knowledge, and female intuitive side.” Reversed, the Swan card means you are not grounded, not paying attention to your intuition, or the Unseen. The authors suggest that you “notice your surroundings, and touch the Earth; be still and focus on one reality or the other – the Dreamtime or the mundane world; stop the clutter in your mind and listen; or focus on a physical activity that will ground you.”

In Celtic lore, pulling the swan card can mean poetic inspiration from the Otherworld. It can also mean an enduring love is entering into your life. Many swan tales have to do with sad partings, separation, and suffering loss with grace. Swan can be a symbol of transformation. Swan often indicates a soul level experience about to commence.

White Buffalo Woman
Teacher of Peace and Wisdom

In the legends of the Plains Indians, she came to the medicine lodge wearing a dress of white buckskin, and introduced the pipe ceremony. She taught the people to honor the whole universe when tobacco is placed in the pipe. She gave the sacred pipe she bears in her left hand to the medicine chief, then transformed into a white buffalo and departed. LOS KIKAPÚES

El abolengo en los kikapúes es diferente que en nuestra cultura. No utilizan apellidos; un padre pasa a su hijo únicamente su afiliación al clan. Cada persona tiene un nombre que corresponde a su clan y el epónimo de su tótem como: Búfalo corredor, Berry silvestre, Man parado, por mencionar algunos.

El kikapú enfrenta la muerte con aceptación; cree que el Gran Espíritu lo puso en la Tierra y tiene el poder de llamarlo cuando le plazca. Piensa que su vida en el más allá estará entretenida con sus juegos, danzas y cacerías favoritas y, de no gustarle, puede pedir permiso para regresar a este mundo entre dos y cuatro veces, en el cuerpo de un recién nacido.

La religión es la principal fuerza integradora de la sociedad kikapú. Creen que todo en este mundo tiene espíritu, vida y poder. Como cabeza de este orden está Kitzihiat, el Gran Espíritu, quien creó todo menos el mundo, el cual fue creado por Wisaka. Él taimen les dio las reglas que deben seguir: no cometer suicidio, no matar a otro kikapú ni a un indio de otra nación ni a un mexicano, no fallar al cumplir sus obligaciones ceremoniales, no beber en exceso, no robar, no cometer adulterio, no mentir, no acumular riqueza, no participar en brujería y no hacer rumores de cosas malignas.

Ellos no creen en el infierno, sólo en el cielo. La lucha, siempre presente, por mantener un estado de armonía con todo y con todos, ha sido tal vez el principal secreto para que hayan logrado conservar su identidad ante el paso del tiempo.

La posada de la Abuela

Les hablo como Mujer Búfalo del Norte, hermana mayor. Soy Mujer Tierra, enraizada profundamente en este suelo; soy Mujer Espíritu, portadora del Gran Misterio. Hoy vengo a hablarles de la Posada de la Abuela a aquéllas que ya estén allí y a todas las que conocen su función. Mujeres, despierten y vean, pues se aproximan a esta posada. Hombres, despierten y escuchen, pues éstas son sus mayores, guardianas de la Ley Altísima.La Posada de la Abuela es la etapa de las mujeres de cabello blanco (sabiduría) que ya han sobrepasado el tiempo de dar el poder de su sangre y ahora la retienen como energía para sostener la Ley. Cuando elegimos rodearnos de un cuerpo terrenal, también aceptamos su responsabilidad, un don para ser compartido. Al elegir un cuerpo femenino, aceptamos la posibilidad de nutrir y renovar todas las cosas. Nuestra herramienta es la ley única del Creador:



“Estarás en buenas relaciones con todas las cosas y con todos los seres

en la gran rueda de la vida”.



La Ley de las Buenas Relaciones, don del Creador a las mujeres, es un conocimiento innato que abarca todos los aspectos de las relaciones. Despierta, se desarrolla y profundiza en contacto con quienes, en nuestra sociedad, la modelan. Nuestro deber es compartir las comprensiones profundas con nuestros hermanos y familias, de modo que la armonía y la paz reinen entre nosotros.Cuando nuestras mayores atraviesan el umbral de la Posada de las Abuelas se convierten en cuidadoras de la Ley. Su atención ya no se consume en la creación de sus propias familias. En este sentido, no tienen hijos y, según nuestras costumbres, quienes no son padre o madre de ningún hijo en particular, son padre y madre de todo hijo. Su atención se vuelve hacia los hijos de Todas Nuestras Relaciones: sus propias criaturas, las de sus amistades, clan o etnia, y las criaturas de todas las ruedas de la vida: Bípedos, Cuadrúpedos, Alados, con Aletas, los Que Crecen Verdes, y demás. Nuestra relación con el gran círculo de la vida recae en sus manos. Ellas deben ejercer su responsabilidad modelando, enseñando y compartiendo la vivencia de dicha ley en la vida de todos los días, de modo que todos alcancen el equilibrio.En términos prácticos, para las mujeres esto significa lo siguiente: al cruzar la menopausia, se abre la oportunidad de experimentarse a sí misma de una manera renovada y profundamente poderosa. Al dejar atrás el desconcierto y el temor generados por presión cultural y al abrirse a la verdad que mora en su interior, la mujer encuentra un desafío increíble para el que está mucho mejor equipada que cualquier otro bípedo. Le es posible sentarse en consejo y usar el poder de la sangre ahora retenida para crear un mundo armonioso a su alrededor.La sangre de luna (menstrual) de la mujer se halla entre las substancias más nutrientes y bio-energetizantes de la Tierra. Puesta sobre una planta, ésta se nutre en profundidad. Nuestras costumbres nativas proponían, durante nuestras ceremonias de siembra y nutrición de las cosechas, que las mujeres en su tiempo lunar se movieran entre las plantas y derramaran su sangre. Nuestras mujeres siempre dieron su sangre honrosamente. Se sentaban sobre el suelo y la donaban directamente o la derramaban sobre musgos que luego depositaban sobre la tierra, para nutrirle y renovarla. Se acompañaban con esta canción:


“Entrego esta sangre de vida a Todas Mis Relaciones y abro mi matriz a la Luz.Entrego esta sangre de vida a Todas Mis Relaciones y abro mi matriz a la Luz.Entrego, entrego, entrego, entrego; abro mi matriz a la Luz.”Vicki Noble, en el “El tambor del Chamán”, recuerda que ésta fue la primera sangre ofrecida en el altar, como ofrenda bendecida.


Luego, cuando se dejó de honrar a las mujeres y se ignoró el poder de sus sangre dadora de vida, se recurrió a los sacrificios animales y humanos para salpicar sangre sobre el altar.Esta es la sangre que retienes en ti cuando ya no sangras en los ciclos lunares; has dejado atrás tu tiempo lunar.


Abuelas: quizás no sean conscientes de la profunda responsabilidad que ahora asumen; de saberlo, hubieran tenido la oportunidad consciente de aprender y profundizar en vosotras mismas y en la buena relación durante sus vidas, de modo de salvar a su pueblo, de modo de brindarse bien es estos años. Mujeres jóvenes que ahora leen esto, vosotras podéis ser conscientes y elegir aprender y crecer de este modo, para estar listas cuando os toque entrar a la Posada de la Abuela.Muchas tribus y etnias recuerdan la primacía de la Ley de Buenas Relaciones y en ellas los consejos de Abuelas gozan de la más alta autoridad. Si un jefe de paz no guiaba a su pueblo por la tierra de modo que gente y animales tuvieran buena comida, agua clara y valles acogedores en tiempos de vientos fríos, las Abuelas solicitaban a otro que condujera; señalaban a alguien que contara con mejores posibilidades de llevar a cabo la tarea de nutrir y renovar la vida del pueblo. Si un jefe de guerra creaba tanta animosidad entre las tribus vecinas y la frecuencia de los ataques interrumpía el bienestar del pueblo, le pedían encontrar usos productivos, y no destructivos, para su energía. Tal era su poder: se hacían cargo seriamente de nutrir y renovar al pueblo y actuaban en concordancia.Hoy en día, las Mujeres Búfalo nos piden que asumamos el papel que quedó vacante. Cuando observo el mundo que nos rodea, veo que todos y cada uno de los problemas que enfrentamos como Bípedos son problemas de relación, sea con los árboles de las selvas tropicales, con otros pueblos, dentro de nuestros sistemas familiares disfuncionales o en la alienación de unos con otros y con la naturaleza. Despierta el deseo de relacionarnos con nosotras mismas como co-creadoras con Todo Lo Que Existe. Sobre estos temas se nos pide explayarnos y encarar acciones espirituales.La Posada de la Abuela abarca todas las mujeres post-menopáusicas. Dentro de ellas se forman grupos pequeños en torno a funciones específicas. Para algunas, el cuidado de un cesto sagrado; para otras, cierta clase de curación; y para otras el mantenimiento de la senda de la belleza (arte) entre la gente. Una artesana en canasta puede pertenecer a la vez al grupo de cestería y al grupo que guarda objetos sagrados (esto último por linaje familiar). Una mujer puede pertenecer tanto a una sociedad de Danzas del Sol como a una sociedad de herboristeras.Al comenzar a reunirse con otras, el primer grupo es pequeño y heterogéneo y se hace necesario descubrir intereses comunes, capacidades individuales y metas. Parte del tiempo juntas puede emplearse en aprendizaje y comprensión, en reuniones para compartir capacidades para meditar y escuchar las Grandes Voces Internas, para caminar sobre la Tierra o para fortalecer y tonificar el cuerpo.Con frecuencia se me pregunta por quienes han experimentado amenorrea, menopausia temprana 0 histerectomías. Aunque no creo poseer respuestas exactas, mi propia experiencia me da algunas pautas. Lo primero que les digo es que el ritmo actividad/receptividad, acción terrena/Gran Misterio, que es el ciclo natural en sincronía con la Abuela luna, todavía resuena en las aguas de sus cuerpos, aunque no vaya acompañado de sangre externa. Profundizan la vivencia de los ciclos lunares dentro de vosotras, ya que resulta de suma importancia para cada una y para Todas Sus Relaciones, a fin de atravesar el velo durante la sangre, ir hacia el Gran Misterio y traer visión para el pueblo. Por otra parte, muchas de nosotras, sin experimentarnos todavía como ancianas, somos llamadas a la Posada de la Abuela. Hay una necesidad urgente de despertar esta función entre las mujeres, debida al derrumbe de las culturas aborígenes y al abandono de las costumbre femeninas. Muy pocas se sientan en las Posadas y perpetúan la nutrición y renovación de sus pueblos, por lo que algunas más jóvenes somos llamadas a la Posada por medios muy diferentes. Aceptémoslo como un honor.Finalmente, me referiré el rito de pasaje de la Posada de la Abuela. Aquellas que estén cerca de una mujer que cruza el umbral, deben honrarla y manifestarle apoyo en este tiempo de responsabilidad grande. Una meditación guiada puede ayudarla a conectarse con su propia fuente de fuerza y sabiduría. Quienes la conocen, saben qué aspectos son su fuerte. También debe recordársele su responsabilidad en la nutrición y renovación de Todas Sus Relaciones y la Ley de Buenas Relaciones del Creador.Sé que mediante su propia experiencia, cada una profundizará su sabiduría mucho más allá de lo que pueda decirles.


Recordar: la Madre Tierra, la Abuela Luna y

el Padre Espíritu viven dentro de cada una de vosotras.

Sumergiros profundamente en vuestra verdadera naturaleza

y extraed de allí la belleza.

LAS ENSEÑANZAS SAGRADAS DE LA MUJER BUFALO BLANCO

Existen muchas versiones de un antiguo mito indio que narra el origen de las ceremonias lakotas. He tratado de hacer una síntesis de algunas de ellas, tratando de absorber aquello que a mi entender me parecía lo más esencial o hermoso.
Cuenta la leyenda que hace muchos años, una tribu de indígenas lakotas pasaban por una hambruna. La tribu se reunió en círculo y decidió mandar a dos jóvenes exploradores a investigar a ver si encontraban una manada de búfalos. Caminaron muchos kilómetros por las montañas de Dakota del Sur y cuando ya estaban cansados de buscar vieron que por el Oeste algo se movía pensando que podía ser un búfalo, mas al acercarse, éste se transformó en una hermosa mujer bellamente ataviada con un vestido de ante blanco.

Como suele suceder con la naturaleza humana, uno de los jóvenes se dejo llevar por sus instintos eróticos y quiso poseer a la mujer, el otro le advirtió que desechara esos pensamientos pues intuía que era una mujer sagrada enviada por el Espíritu. Al darse ella cuenta de esto, atrajo hacia sí al joven que la deseaba envolviéndole en una nube de polvo y al desaparecer la nube sólo quedaba en el suelo un esqueleto lleno de serpientes.


Mujer Cría de Búfalo Blanco habló:
"El hombre que, antes que nada, considera la belleza externa de una mujer, nunca advertirá su belleza interior, pues sus ojos están cegados por el polvo. Sin embargo, quien ve en ella el espíritu del Todopoderoso y contempla primeramente la belleza del espíritu y de la verdad, conocerá a Dios en esa mujer; y si ella decidiera yacer con él, ese hombre participará en el goce con mayor profundidad que el primero.
"Tú, al mirarme, no te dejaste cegar por mi belleza; por el contrario, tus primeros pensamientos fueron: ¿Quién es esa hermosa mujer? ¿Qué es lo que confiere a su semblante tanto brillo bajo el sol de la tarde? ¿De qué tierra proviene? ¿Qué noticias nos trae?
"Por eso amigo, no tengas miedo; también obtendrás lo que deseas.
"Tu compañero y tú simbolizáis los dos caminos que pueden elegir los hombres de una tribu. Si buscáis primero la sagrada visión del Gran Espíritu, vereís lo que ve el Creador y descubriréis así que viene a vuestras manos todo cuando de la tierra necesitáis. Sin embargo, si vuestra primera preocupación es aseguraros de satisfacer los apetitos terrenos y olvidáis el espíritu, morirá vuestro interior.
"en épocas sagradas, la mayoría de los hombres elegían el mismo camino que tú; pero ahora hay muchos que siguen el camino de tu hermano caído. Lo que viste en la nube de polvo era una vida acelerada; tu hermano vivió muchos años en aquellos momentos en que tú solo viste un remolino. No sufrió tanto como imaginas. Vivió una vida que muchos, en esta era de olvido, llamarían "plena". Pero estaba dominado por las pasiones y al final, su cuerpo volvió al polvo, pues polvo eran todos sus pensamientos. No sólo había olvidado al Gran Espíritu, sino también su propio espíritu. No aportó nada significativo ni a mí, ni a la mujer, ni a los pueblos de la llanura".
Entonces el joven cazador le preguntó quién era ella.

Con los ojos negros como pozos nocturnos entre las estrellas, lo miró fijamente, como si sólo con su mirada le diera la respuesta.

"-Soy el Espíritu de la Verdad,- replicó por último-. Tu pueblo me conoce como la Madre de los Antiguos, pero ya ves que soy joven para que me den ese nombre. Mi edad no es superior a la de la yerba que se mece al viento, ni a la de las flores que adornan la pradera. Soy la madre que vive dentro de cada madre, la niña que juega con cada una de vuestras hermanas. Soy el rostro olvidado del Gran espíritu. He venido a hablar de las naciones de la llanura. Ve delante de mí a tu pueblo. Di a tu jefe que prepare un generoso tipi que albergue a todas las personas de tu campamento. Yo iré en breve. Os enseñaré algunas cosas, cosas sagradas que tu tribu ha olvidado."

Efectivamente se dice que así fue la aparición de la mujer Búfalo Blanco, en una época en que la nación lakota estaba perdiendo sus valores espirituales o en el punto en que ya era necesario un paso evolutivo. Es así como las serpientes que roen el esqueleto del joven representan al ser humano devorado por sus propias pasiones.

La historia continúa y la mujer Cría de Búfalo pide al joven que regrese a su pueblo y le diga a su jefe Hehloghecha Najin, Cuerno Hueco de Pie, que prepare un tipi ceremonial, porque en la próxima luna se acercaría para entregarles un regalo del Gran Espíritu Wakan Tanka. Aquí también es interesante señalar el nombre del jefe ya que éste también representa el estado en que se encontraban las llanuras indias en aquel entonces olvidándose del espíritu y teniendo una vaciedad en el alma enfrentándose en continuas bravatas. El tipi que es la tienda cónica cubierta por pieles de bisontes y sujeta por varas usada por los indios como casa. Se transforma en ceremonial al agrandar su tamaño y construirla con 28 varas, una de ellas es la "clave" que aguanta todas las demás, y esta vara, dicen los sabios, representa el Gran Espíritu que sostiene al universo, que es representado por el conjunto de la tienda.



"Cuerno Hueco de Pie no era irreflexivo ni malvado , por lo que tras escuchar el relato del joven, se puso a trabajar junto con sus hombres, y entre todos montaron un gran tipi de muchas pieles para que pudieran reunirse los miembros del campamento, no estaba dispuesto a permitir que sus pueblos se distrajeran de las enseñanzas, de quien, como sospechaba podría ser la madre de las estrellas.
"Cuando aquellas gentes vieron a Mujer Cría de Búfalo Blanco acercándose a ellas a través de la pradera, quedaron asombrados. Esperaban que fuera anciana; sin embargo, parecía una doncella, graciosa como la hierba que ondeaba a su alrededor a la luz del crepúsculo. Su rostro resplandecía con un brillo que recordaba las flores silvestres, los berros y las más finas de las hierbas.

"Mientras ella se adentraba en el centro del pueblo, a más de un guerrero se le ocurrió el mismo pensamiento que había tenido su hermano muerto. Pero para entonces ya conocían su suerte, y practicaron una disciplina de pensamiento nueva para ellos.

"Descalza como siempre en sus desplazamientos por la tierra, Mujer Cría de Búfalo Blanco entró en la tienda, reflejando en su vestido de ante blanco la luminosa presencia de su espíritu... Sin pronunciar una palabra, caminó lentamente en círculo alrededor del fuego que ardía en el centro del tipi. Al posar sus pies dorados por el sol en la arena, cuantos la observaban advirtieron su devota reverencia por la tierra... Despacio y en silencio, dio siete vueltas en torno al fuego.

"Pocos la miraron a los ojos. Quienes osaban hacerlo, veían pozos de perfecta negrura. Tan grandes eran sus pupilas, que quienes se miraban en ellas veían, como en un espejo, su propio rostro y el fuego parpadeante de la asamblea. Y les parecía que se miraban a sí mismos, que se veían como eran en verdad, sin exagerar sus virtudes ni pasar por alto sus flaquezas, como eran, expuestos y desnudos. Había también quienes no miraban sus ojos, pues no podían hacerlo con honestidad.

"Aún antes de que despegara los labios para pronunciar palabra, había dado al pueblo sioux, la enseñanza más profunda que nunca había recibido con su porte y con su ejemplo. Cuando habló por fin, su voz le recordó la canción de las aguas que canturrean sobre las rocas, la música de los pájaros que cantan al sobrevolar los prados. Les recordó el susurro del viento nocturno entre los tipis y su silbido por entre las ramas de los pinos.

"-Siete veces -dijo-, he rodeado esta hoguera con veneración y en silencio. Este fuego simboliza el amor que arde por siempre en el corazón del Gran Espíritu. Es el fuego que calienta el corazón de toda cría de búfalo, de todo búfalo, de todo perro de la pradera, de toda prudente gallina, de toda águila y de todo ser humano. El pueblo de los sioux es como un único ser. Este tipi representa su cuerpo; el fuego que arde en el centro es su amor. Y el fuego del amor se expresa a veces mediante la sexualidad".

Hizo una pausa y miró profundamente a los ojos de los reunidos en su torno.

"esta puede ocurrir de modo creativo o destructivo, -prosiguió-. La pasión que ruge sin control es como el fuego de hierba silvestre, que todo lo destruye a su paso; pero atemperada por la sabiduría, esa misma pasión puede alimentar a generaciones enteras; puede calentar miles de tiendas en cientos de inviernos nevosos y transmitir su fuerza a vuestros hijos y a los hijos de vuestros hijos.

"Quienes, como el joven cuyos huesos reposan ahora bajo la luna de la pradera, piensan primeramente en la expresión sexual de ese fuego y después, si es que lo piensan, en el espíritu que hay tras ella, se engranan en un ciclo de sufrimiento e ilusión, ciclo desconocido por vuestro pueblo hace unos siglos, pero que ahora está debilitando vuestra raza, apagando vuestra vitalidad y agotando vuestras fuerzas.

"La creación no puede producirse si se dispersa y derrocha energía. Para crear es necesario acumular y centrar esa energía en un círculo cerrado como la semilla, el huevo, el útero, el matrimonio. Si queréis crear y no destruir debéis tener siempre presente el Aro Sagrado. Considerad y dibujad a su alrededor el círculo sagrado del compromiso. En el cálido ambiente de ese círculo, la fuerza del amor crece sin límites como una tormenta de verano sobre la húmeda hierba de la pradera, hasta que de súbito, el círculo se llena hasta rebosar y estalla con la concepción de lo nuevo".

Estas y muchas otras bellas enseñanzas salieron de la boca de la mujer Búfalo Blanco y acto seguido desenvolvió una hermosa pipa de piedra roja que traía envuelta en ramas de salvia. Mientras la sostenía ante ellos les dijo lo que significaba: "El cuenco de la pipa representa la carne y la sangre de la gente Búfalo y de todas las otras gentes que corren por las praderas. El tubo de madera de la pipa representa a todos los árboles y plantas, todas las cosas verdes que crecen sobre la Tierra; las plumas representan a las aves que vuelan en el cielo; el humo que pasa a través de ella representa al viento sagrado, el aliento que eleva las plegarias hacia Wakan Tanka, el Creador". Les indicó a continuación como sostenerla y ofrecerla a la Tierra, al Cielo y a las Cuatro Direcciones y les dijo otras muchas cosas que no debían olvidar: "La Pipa Sagrada les enseñará el Buen Camino Rojo, el camino del respeto y la unión entre todos los seres que viven en la Madre Tierra, el camino de la oración y el de dar las Gracias por todos los dones que el Creador ha depositado para la vida. Cuando no tengan paz, cuando surja un problema en su nación, fumen esta pipa, pidiendo al creador ayuda y claridad para resolver vuestras inquietudes".



Junto con esta ceremonia de la pipa, la mujer Cría de Búfalo dejo otras siete, completando con ello las ceremonias de la nación Lakota, como las siete vueltas que dió alrededor del fuego: El Inipi o rito de purificación, el Hanblecheyapi o Búsqueda de la Visión, Wiwanyag wachipi o danza del Sol, Tapa wanka yap o Juego de la Pelota, la Custodia del alma, Hankapi o parentesco, y el Ishna ta awi cha lowan o Preparación de la muchacha para los deberes de la mujer.

Siete son los caminos, siete los rayos que se dibujan en las cenizas del fuego que nos hará nacer a una nueva vida.
Esta historia tan antigua, ha permanecido, gracias a la tradición oral de los lakotas, viva, no sólo en sus palabras sino también en la acción.
Durante siglos, los pueblos nativos de América permanecieron en silencio, soportando la devastación a la que fueron sometidos por las naciones europeas. Fue la época de las "lágrimas", como la llamaron los abuelos, anunciada por las visiones de los profetas, pero también estaba anunciado que después de las lágrimas, los búfalos volverían a correr por las praderas y la pipa de la paz volvería a fumarse para el bien de todos los seres humanos.

Y así fue, pues el movimiento de los jóvenes rebeldes indígenas contra el gobierno oficial de los Estados Unidos exigió, entre sus demandas de derechos, la práctica libre de todas sus formas religiosas. Y fue en Wounded Knee, a comienzos de los años steneta, encerrados en la iglesia del pueblo, donde hacía un siglo habían sido asesinados por los casacas azules niños, ancianos y jóvenes que no tuvieron la posibilidad de defenderse, que un grupo de jóvenes de las diferentes tribus indígenas de Norteamérica, a fuego cruzaco con las tropas del FBI, levantaron el árbol milenario de la danza del sol y encendieron el fuego sagrado de los antepasados para las presentes y las futuras generaciones.

Es así como han regresado las enseñanzas de la mujer Búfalo Blanco no sólo para las gentes indígenas sino para el mundo entero. ¿Y cuál es el sentido de estas tradiciones? Para los tiempos que estamos viviendo estas enseñanzas aportan un nivel de sanación para los padecimientos que sufre la humanidad actual: stress, angustia, miedos irracionales y todo tipo de padecimientos psicológicos y emocionales, amen del físico, somatizado por los mismos o por la ingesta de alimentos absolutamente alejados de su fuente natural.

La esencia de estas enseñanzas se basa en el concepto de que todos los seres, en todos los planos, animados e inanimados, plantas, rocas, espíritus, animales, humanos, etc., compartimos un mismo espacio sagrado que debemos cuidar y conservar, y que cualquier cosa que dañemos, nos daña a nosotros mismos. Las enseñanzas de la mujer Búfalo nos acercan a la Tierra. Nos hacen comprender el misterio de la naturaleza y a conectarnos y comunicarnos con nuestros hermanos que cohabitan el planeta.
“Cada uno de nosotros es ecológicamente significativo. Nuestros pensamientos, sentimientos y sensaciones físicas, que nos dan un sentido de identidad están basados en nuestras interacciones con la Tierra y con los demás. Cada una afecta a la otra, Debido a la inteligencia humana y a nuestra habilidad para alterar la Tierra y para reproducirnos en gran número, somos únicos en ser poderosamente determinantes del medio ambiente global. Nuestro planeta viviente es un sistema cerrado con recurso finitos que es todo lo que tenemos para apoyar la vida sobre la Tierra, nuestra casa que nos da todo, desde el agua que bebemos hasta la efímera belleza del rocío brillando como plata bajo los rayos del sol al amanecer”.

Los rituales que vino a enseñar la Mujer Búfalo Blanco nos ayudan a recuperar el sentido de ser habitantes de la Tierra con todas sus relaciones y no seres desconectados del verdadero sentido de la vida que es salud y felicidad, armonía y creatividad, voluntad y fuerza para salir adelante sean cuales sean las circunstancias que se nos presenten. El quedarnos varios días en la montaña sin beber agua y sin comer, en la soledad y en el silencio, conectándonos con los seres de la naturaleza que ahí habitan, recibiendo sus lecciones y sus enseñanzas, buscando la Visión que ilumine el sentido de nuestra existencia, que nos haga caminar por el mundo con paz y dignidad, con claridad y poder; el reunirnos en una noche de luna llena a dar gracias por la vida y ofrecer nuestro sudor en el Inipi Sagrado, que nos purifica y devuelve al contacto con los cuatro elementos: aire, agua, tierra y fuego, que están dentro y fuera de nosostros; el orar en silencio en la casa de sudar, las mujeres reunidas en círculo, bajo las sombras de la luna nueva, nos ayuda a comprender nuestra naturaleza propia de misterio, de oscuridad, el comprender que como la luna cambiamos en el curso de 28 días. El reunirnos en círculo alrededor del fuego antiguo del tipi tomando la medicina sagrada del Abuelito Jikuri que penetra limpiando todo residuo de obscuridad, abriendo nuestros centros de energía y dándonos la claridad que necesitamos para comprender que todos somos hermanos habitando una misma casa, que no estamos solos, que podemos apoyarnos y ayudarnos y que lo único que tenemos que hacer para estar bien es seguir los mandatos de nuestro corazón y de nuestra intuición.

En este momento de cambio intenso y profundo por el que atraviesa nuestro planeta, cuando ha quedado comprobado que los viejos paradigmas de la sociedad capitalista-consumista-individualista no le ofrecen al ser humano una alternativa para su evolución y crecimiento, los antiguos rituales de algunos pueblos antiguos vienen a darnos la respuesta de como volver a relacionarnos con nuestra Tierra y con nosotros mismos de una manera armoniosa y respetuosa.

La Mujer Búfalo Blanco ha regresado como en los antiguos tiempos para ayudar al ser humano a tomar el Sagrado Camino Rojo del Corazón, el camino del amor por la Tierra de la que todos formamos parte y que ya no queremos seguir destruyendo.
